UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA WILDCATS @ KANSAS STATE WILDCATS – 5:00PM

U of A travels to Kansas for the WIldcat Bowl tonight in a prime time clash on Fox. Arizona had a disappointing showing at home last week against NAU where they were favored by 35 points but managed to win by only 12 points. They also failed to cover the spread as favorites against New Mexico in Week 1 although their offense had a much better showing and you could see the potential that Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan have to be the best QB and WR duo in all of college football. That said, Arizona’s 27th-ranked passing attack, led by Fifita, gives them the offensive firepower to exploit Kansas State’s secondary, which ranks 106th in pass defense. While Kansas State’s ground game, driven by DJ Giddens, presents a threat, Arizona’s ability to move the ball through the air should keep this game close. Arizona is currently priced just over 2 to 1 to win the game outright but even for them to cover a 6.5 point spread FanDuel is offering a +100 payout. With the difference between the two being so small, taking Zona to cover rather than to win outright aligns better with their inconsistency, making the spread the higher value play.

The Pick: University of Arizona +6.5 Spread

MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS – 6:40PM

The Brewers travel to Phoenix to take on the Diamondbacks to kick off a late season series matchup. These teams have not played each other since the playoffs last year where the Diamondbacks defeated the Brewers in a best of 3 game series in Milwaukee to advance in the postseason. While the Brewers boast solid pitching this season, their team hitting has been abysmal as of late, ranking in the bottom three of MLB with a .219 batting average over the last 30 days. This severe offensive slump significantly reduces their ability to capitalize on any pitching advantages they may have with Freddy Peralta having the better ERA among the starting pitchers in this game. Meanwhile, Arizona’s offense has been one of the best in the league, leading MLB in runs scored and ranking second in team batting average so far this season. Corbin Carroll is now 2nd in all of baseball in runs scored over the last 30 days with 25 runs. Late season power hitting sensation Eugenio Suarez has now surpassed Carroll with the most runs scored in the last 30 days in the majors with 26 runs. The depth and talent that the Diamondbacks have with their hitting is second to none in Major League Baseball right now and it’s something AI anticipates the Brewers to struggle with. Eduardo Rodriguez, despite some tough recent starts against elite offenses like the Astros and Dodgers, is poised for a bounce-back performance against a weaker-hitting Brewers lineup. You could look to play the run line if you want a larger payout but to be conservative take the Diamondbacks on the Moneyline to win the game.

The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks Moneyline
