LOS ANGELES SPARKS @ CONNECTICUT SUN – 4:00PM
The LA Sparks are in Boston tonight to take on the Connecticut Sun for a matchup that is taking place in a different venue than normal. The game tonight is a sell out at TD Garden in Boston and it will be the first time they have ever played a WNBA game in that arena. The Sparks come into the matchup having lost all 3 games they have played since the break by a combined margin of 55 points. They currently rank among the bottom 3 teams in the WNBA in defensive rating and offensive rating. With their league worst record standing at 6-21 there’s not a whole lot for them to play for over their final 13 games of the season. Meanwhile the Sun have the 2nd best record in the WNBA at 19-7 and rank in the top 4 in defensive and offensive rating. They are 1-1 in the 2 games they played since the break with a 12 point loss on the road to the Dream and a 18 point win in Dallas against the Wings. The last time the Sun played the Sparks was at home in June and the Sun won by 9. The line for the game today currently stands at 13.5 and this should be a number the Sun can cover on the spread no problem. With the game tonight being a bit of a homecoming to feature the newly acquired Marina Mabrey to the Sun faithful, and with the much stronger home court advantage than normal (can’t imagine LA people are going to travel for this one), look for the Sun to beat the Sparks by 14 or more points. They could very easily win by 20-30.
The Pick: Connecticut Sun -13.5 Spread
MILWAUKEE BREWERS @ ST. LOUIS CARDINALS – 4:46PM
The Brewers take on the Cardinals tonight to start a new 3 game series. The Brewers carry a 5 game winning streak into the game with some impressive wins against the Cleveland Guardians and the LA Dodgers. The Cardinals meanwhile are 1-4 in their last 5 games and have an 11-17 record overall since the all star break. The Cardinals are only 5 games back of the final wildcard spot in the National League but their postseason hopes dwindle by the day as they are currently struggling to win. The Brewers have Frankie Montas pitching tonight while the Cardinals will have Eric Fedde on the mound. The Brewers are priced as the underdog in this game which seems like a miscalculation from oddsmakers and something we can look to profit on. Montas has been solid since he got traded to the Brewers from the Reds going 3-0 in his starts. He pitched one time in St. Louis earlier this season when he was on the Reds. He threw for 6 innings and only gave up 2 hits and a run in a 1-0 loss. Meanwhile Fedde seems to have lost a step after his trade to the Cardinals from the White Sox. In 3 starts for the Cardinals so far he is 1-2 and he has given up 16 hits and 10 runs over that stretch. In 1 previous game against the Brewers back in May he allowed 9 hits and 4 runs in a 12-5 loss. With how well the Brewers are playing right now and the pitching matchup seeming to be in their favor, there’s just too much value to ignore on backing the Brewers. Take the Brewers on the Moneyline for the above even money payout.
