MINNESOTA LYNX @ CONNECTICUT SUN – 4:00PM

The Lynx take on the Sun today in Connecticut in a matchup of two of the top teams in the WNBA. The Lynx are the top team in the Western Conference with a 29-9 overall record while the Sun are second in the Eastern Conference with a 27-11 record this season. These teams have played each other twice already with the Sun winning both times by small margins so you can expect the game today to be close. Even though the Sun have had the upper hand so far in the games they’ve played, the last time they faced off was before the Allstar break in early July and much has changed over the last couple of months. The Lynx are currently the hottest team in the WNBA sporting an 11-1 record since WNBA play resumed after the Olympics on August 15th. Although it is unlikely at this point they could still manage to tie the Liberty for the best overall record in the league if they win their final 2 games which gives them something to play for against the Sun tonight (Liberty would need to lose out too). If that happened they would win the tiebreaker and take the number 1 seed heading into the post season considering they won their regular season series against the Liberty. At the very least they’ll have a chance to prevent a weep to the Sun today and you just can’t bet against the Lynx the way they are playing right now. If you want a larger payout look to take the Lynx to win by a margin of 1-10 as the Sun have no home losses greater than 10 points so far this season. Bottom line you can count on the Lynx to win.

The Pick: Minnesota Lynx Moneyline

HOUSTON ASTROS @ SAN DIEGO PADRES – 6:40PM

The Astros take on the Padres for game 2 of their regular season series after losing last night 3-1 at Petco Park. The Padres have now won their last 4 games and don’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. They have Michael King starting today while the Astros will have Hunter Brown on the mound. Although Brown is considered among the better pitchers in the Astros starting rotation, they have lost 3 out of the last 4 games that he has started for them and in his last start against the Oakland Athletics he allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs in a 5-4 loss. The Padres have also lost 3 out of the last 4 games that Michael King has started but he has allowed only 5 earned runs total over that entire stretch. The Padres are 15-7 in home games since the All Star break and In King’s last 4 starts at home going back to August 13th the Padres are 3-1.  While Houston’s Hunter Brown is a capable pitcher that could cause problems for the Padres hitters, the Padres’ recent momentum and home-field advantage make them a strong play to win tonight’s game.

The Pick: San Diego Padres Moneyline
