NEW YORK METS @ ATLANTA BRAVES – 4:20PM

The Mets take on the Braves tonight in the second game of their final 3 game series of the postseason. Both of these teams are in a fight with the Diamondbacks for the final 2 wildcard spots in the National League with all 3 teams currently being separated by just 1 game. With the race so tight, their playoff positions will flip by the day as the regular season ends this weekend. The Braves are riding high after a convincing 5-1 victory over the Mets last night, and they are sending Chris Sale to the mound, one of the most dominant pitchers in the league this season. Sale has been outstanding all year with an 18-3 record and a sub-2.40 ERA, making him the frontrunner for the National League Cy Young award. His consistency and ability to overpower hitters give Atlanta a significant edge, especially at home. With Sale’s elite performance and the Braves pushing for a playoff spot, backing them to win is a solid choice.

The Pick: Atlanta Braves Moneyline

PHOENIX MERCURY @ MINNESOTA LYNX – 6:30PM

The Mercury play the Lynx tonight in what will be an elimination game for them in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. These teams played each other last Sunday with the Mercury losing 102-95. Expect the Mercury to play with a strong sense of urgency in this game as they are very well aware it could be the last time Diana Taurasi ever plays in a WNBA game and they will be looking to make the most of it to force a game 3 in Phoenix. While I do recommend betting on the Mercury to cover a 10.5 alternate point spread, the highest value play in this game is actually for Minnesota Lynx All Star Forward Napheesa Collier’s points. Collier has been in elite form, already delivering a commanding performance in Game 1 against the Phoenix Mercury with 38 points. She’s the focal point of Minnesota’s offense, consistently leading the team in scoring, and with the Lynx controlling the tempo at home, Collier should see plenty of opportunities to rack up points. Her line on total points scored in this game is currently at over/under 22.5 points and she should have no problem going over that mark.

The Pick: Napheesa Collier OVER 22.5 points
